2012 Land Rover LRX may be unveiled as early as mid 2010

The LRX concept from the lines of Range Rover has received a lot of praises in auto show circuits. Land Rover has recently confirmed that the production version of the LRX will be unveiledLand Rover LRX 2012 Black to the public by June 17, 2010.

The date may not ring a bell but in the car industry, it marks the 40th anniversary of the first ever Range Rover. Since the LRX will carry the same badge, Land Rover is celebrating the memory and significance of the date.

Insider information also gives us 2011 as the year of production for the LRX and sales of the SUV following afterwards. It will most likely go as a 2012 model. The production of the compact SUV will be done at the Halewood factory in the United Kingdom where the company has about 2000 workers. The same facility was responsible for the LR2 and the X-Type of Jaguar.

When Land Rover released the teaser photos of the LRX, the car manufacturer also shared that aside from the standard diesel and gas models, they will also be coming up with a hybrid variant.

The LRX concept was first revealed during the auto show in Detroit last year. The concept vehicle had a diesel-hybrid engine that has an expected fuel efficiency of 60mpg. The production version may also have excellent fuel efficiency and may also carry over features like the start stop system and may use lightweight panels as well.
